THE GIG

The Network Engineer will work with internal and external clients to gather requirements, provide guidance and network design and support. This position requires a highly technical person that has a deep understanding of routing protocols, good operational experience and the ability to isolate, analyze and resolve network issues.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Ensure the stable operation of the corporate enterprise network including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links
  • Assist clients in the daily maintenance of data network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, WiFi, and NICs.
  • Experience in Cisco routers (ASR and ISRs) and switches (Catalyst and Nexus series), managing and designing network infrastructures and configuring enterprise LAN, WAN and VPN technologies
  • Demonstrate experience with redundant router configurations
  • Knowledge of Cisco proprietary and open industry standard network protocols (802.1q, 802.1x, STP, OSPF, EIGRP, PAGP, LACP, VRRP, etc.) and experience implementing them in an enterprise network
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts
  • Must be familiar with IP addressing and subnetting and WAN technologies such as MPLS, Wireless, IPSec, VPN, Metro Ethernet, etc.. The candidate must have common knowledge of ACLs, etherchannels, IPSEC, QOS, spanning tree, VLANs, VTP, CIDR, VOIP and NAT as well
  • Hands-on experience Installing and configuring network hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, VPN appliances and telecommunication devices
  • Experience in automated network configuration management, Solarwinds Orion is preferred.  NetFlow analysis experience also a plus
  • Manage data/voice networking relationships and work with vendors to escalate issues when appropriate
  • Provide regular status reports on tasks accomplished, current issues and progress toward goals. 
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of network design, operation and procedure manuals
  • Provide capacity, performance, uptime and security reporting as requested
  • Configure and maintain SRST, QoS, Voice Routing Protocols and Voice Gateways
  • Leverage the use of workflow ticketing systems such as Remedy
  • Communicate to business clients, technical teams and management in a consistent manner making complex technical issues and solutions clear, simple and understandable
  • Work closely with other members of Information Technology Department to assist with project implementations and other tasks as requested
  • Participate in rotating on-call coverage or emergency response as needed

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Required:

  • 7+ Years’ Experience in Information Technology
  • CCNA
  • Cisco ISE and/or F5 Load Balancer experience 
  • Communicates both verbally and non-verbally
  • Service Orientation – Actively looking for way to assist others
  • Critical Thinker – Ability to interpret a goal/objective and implement solution(s)
  • Excellent organization and client service skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Ability to work effectively and with minimal direct supervision

Preferred:

  • CCNP, CCDP or CCIE
  • Disaster Recovery and/or Business Continuity Experience
  • Exposure to Active Directory; DNS; DHCP; Linux; Windows 7/2003/2008; WINS; VMware ESX/ESXi 
  • Mortgage and/or Financial Services industry experience
  • BS or BA degree in business, marketing, communications or computer science, or equivalent
